The company
El.Co has recently embarked on a path of sustainable growth by starting a collaboration with ECOVADIS, an international reference body in sustainability assessment. This choice reflects the company’s desire to continuously improve its environmental, social and governance performance, following globally recognized best practices.
Among the most significant initiatives is the gradual replacement of plastic packaging with paper solutions, a strategic decision that reduces environmental impact and promotes recyclability. The company also stands out for responsible energy sourcing, using mostly locally produced energy from sustainable sources, such as the incinerator near the headquarters to benefit the circular economy.
On the waste management front, strict in-house waste sorting has been adopted that maximizes material recovery. All products fully comply with REACH and RoHS regulations, protecting safety and the environment. Finally, for both current and future products, the design is geared toward facilitating the separation and recycling of components, making their end-of-life management more efficient and sustainable.
Continuing education and monitoring
The company actively promotes the training and awareness of its employees on the issues of recycling, waste collection and sustainable mobility. One example is the encouragement of car sharing.
Particular attention is also paid to encouraging the use of bicycles for the home-work commute during the summer period wherever possible.
To strengthen its commitment to sustainability, the company has established cross-departmental working groups involving all company functions, with the aim of coordinating and developing projects dedicated to these issues.
The emissions generated are minimal and controlled, thanks in part to the high energy efficiency of the machinery used by El.Co.

The future of El.Co
The company has defined as one of its strategic objectives the achievement of ISO 14001 environmental certification and, in the future, also ISO 50001, testifying to a concrete commitment to sustainability.
At the same time, it intends to continue with determination on the path of improvement required by ECOVADIS certification, taking rapid and effective actions.
Prominent among the planned initiatives is the installation of photovoltaic panels to increase the use of energy from renewable sources.
On the digitization front, El.Co is accelerating the dematerialization of internal documentation, with the aim of significantly reducing the use of paper, except for product packaging.
A similar approach will be taken for plastics, favoring biodegradable or recyclable materials. Finally, a purchasing control system is being developed aimed at minimizing emissions associated with the production and transportation of materials, as well as monitoring suppliers’ compliance with standard sustainability requirements.
